Relying on the capabilities of experts and equipped facilities that comply with international standards, this laboratory is required to strictly control raw materials and products in accordance with the defined control program and is also ready to provide various laboratory services to respected artisans, researchers and students.

In order to be customer-oriented and to satisfy the applicants, accuracy and speed in responding are the main axes of the laboratory policy of Nirumand Polymer Company

Nirumand Polymer Laboratory services

This laboratory is specialized in performing tests to determine the physical, mechanical, thermal and optical characteristics of polymer raw materials, carbonate masterbatches, rubber, polyamide PA, polypropylene PP, polyethylene PE, acronitrile butadiene styrene, ABS, polyester POM, etc. (simple or reinforced) in accordance with international standards (ASTM, ISO, DIN, EN, etc.)

Some of the tests that can be done in the laboratory are as follows:

1. DSC thermal analysis

This test is performed to check the thermal behavior of polymers and is used to obtain the melting point, heat capacity, glass transition temperature, etc. Also, by measuring the absorbed enthalpy, the percentage of different polymers in a polymer alloy can be determined.

2. OIT

It is important to determine the induction time of oxidation in raw materials and polymer products containing stabilizers such as polyethylene pipes and geomembranes. This test is performed by differential scanning calorimetry. In the first stage, the temperature rises to 200 degrees Celsius with the presence of a neutral nitrogen atmosphere, and the thermal stability of the tested sample is checked. In the second stage, the flow of nitrogen gas is cut off and oxygen enters the system. In these time conditions (in minutes), the sample’s resistance to oxidation is checked and reported, which indicates the resistance to environmental conditions.

This test is performed according to the ISO 11357 standard by Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.

3. FLAMMABILITY

This test is to determine the flammability test of polymeric materials and ranking according to the burning time and method.

This test is performed according to the UL 94 standard by Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.

4. MFI

This test is performed to measure the melt flow index of polymer materials at a certain temperature and pressure and based on the amount of melt coming out of the die with certain dimensions. This index is to better identify the process properties of polymers and the rate of melt flow of thermoplastics in laboratory conditions.

This test is performed according to ASTM D-1238 standard by Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.

5. IMPACT Strength

This test is to measure the breaking energy of polymer materials due to dynamic stress and a kind of simulation of real conditions in order to predict the breaking conditions of the sample and prevent it.

This test is performed by Nirumand Polymer laboratory with two IZOD and CHARPY methods and based on ISO180 and ISO 179 standards.

6. FILLER CONTENT

This test is performed to measure the percentage of mineral fillers such as glass fibers, calcium carbonate, etc. at temperatures of 600 and 750 degrees Celsius in accordance with the ISO 3451/1 standard in Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.

7. Flexural Modulus

This test (flexural modulus) is to measure the resistance of polymer materials against bending and is performed in three points. This test is performed according to ASTM D790 standard by Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.

8. Tensile

This test (tensile strength) is to measure the resistance of polymer materials against tearing caused by tension, which is one of the most important and widely used mechanical properties.

Yield stress, which is an important parameter in product design, represents the amount of stress in which the test sample is transferred from the elastic region to the plastic region. The stress at the breaking point and the amount of elongation are other parameters that can be measured in this test.

This test is conducted based on ISO 527 standard by Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.

9. HARDNESS

This test is performed to measure the resistance of polymer materials against deformation caused by external force.

Nirumand Polymer Laboratory is able to perform this test with hardness with Shore D (for harder materials) and Shore A (for softer materials).

This test is performed according to ASTM D2240 standard by Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.

10. COLORIMETRY

This test is performed to determine the parameters (L,a,b) and yellowness index (YI) for colored and white products.

This test is performed according to ASTM E313 standard in Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.

11. HDT/VICAT

This test is to measure the softening point temperature (VICAT) and deformation temperature under pressure (HDT) and it is measured by placing three sample pieces in a silicone oil bath and increasing the temperature at a constant rate.

The results of this test are very important for polymer products that are used at high temperatures and are a measure of thermal simulation for product performance.

This test is performed based on ASTM D648 and ASTM D1525 standards by NIRUMAND Polymer Laboratory.

12. FLASH POINT

This test is performed to measure the flash point of polymer raw materials, especially lubricants.

This test is performed according to ASTM D92 standard by Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.

13. VISCOSITY

This test is performed to measure the viscosity of polymer raw materials (at 140 degrees), especially lubricants.

These tests are performed according to the ASTM D1986 standard by Nirumand Polymer Laboratory.
